LOWER SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION SPECIALIST

The lower school technology integration specialist will work collaboratively with teachers to provide support and assistance in the integration of instructional technology across the curriculum. The technology integration specialist will serve as an advocate for instructional technology initiatives and support implementation of the strategic instructional technology plan.

Instructional Technology Integration Specialist

  • Work with teachers and to identify and collaboratively plan the integration of technology  and multimedia into specific units or lessons, including in-class assistance as needed
  • Provide individual and group instruction with teachers and students in the use of various instructional technologies including iPads and SMART Boards
  • Work with the information technology staff to provide minor trouble-shooting of computer equipment in labs and classrooms
  • Disseminate information regarding technology integration best practices and promote the sharing of resources and ideas at the lower school
  • Serve as a member of the instructional technology and communication arts team to communicate developments and suggestions regarding instructional technology initiatives

News Broadcast

  • Work with students, teachers and administrators to coordinate, write and produce the WNCS morning news broadcast

Lower School Typing Program

  • Provide direct instruction to each third-grade homeroom in essential typing skills

Reports to: Head of the lower school

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in educational technology or related field is required
  • Experience in an education environment, specifically K-12, is preferred
  • Experience working with Windows, Mac, iPads, Android, Windows Server and iOS devices
  • Knowledge of Google Apps for Education, iOS device management and other cloud-based services
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently

MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL LEARNING RESOURCE TUTOR

Norfolk Collegiate is seeking an experienced tutor who is innovative, enthusiastic and compassionate for a full time Middle and Upper School Learning Resource Tutor position. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to provide a student centered positive learning environment, foster their intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills, as well as be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents. This tutor shall also demonstrate a strong work ethic and a desire to be a lifelong learner. 

The tutor works with middle school and upper school students both individually and in groups during the school day on organization and study skills, tests and project preparation, and homework assignments. Tutors support the science, English, social studies and math curricula.  The successful candidate must be willing and able to learn new material. The tutor reports directly to the director of the learning resource center for the middle and upper school. The hours required for this position are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education, reading or equivalent
  • Experience with special education is desirable
  • A strong math background in Algebra I, II and Geometry is preferable. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to working with a diverse group of learners. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management and learning assessment
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community

Substitute teachers

Norfolk Collegiate is seeking applicants for substitute teaching positions for the academic year 2015-16. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching a range of high school or middle school classes, proctoring study halls, and supporting the school's mission as needed. Ideal candidates will have some teaching experience in a middle or upper school setting, and a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to learning. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching young adults. They should have an established interest in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. ATHLETIC COACHES

Norfolk Collegiate is seeking applicants for various athletic coaching positions for the academic year 2015-16.  Coaches at Norfolk Collegiate serve a crucial function in supplementing the education of children who attend our school.  Our robust athletic department helps in the development of the minds, bodies, and characters of our students, and coaches, like teachers in the classroom, serve as guides and mentors to this process.  To coach one of the athletic teams at Norfolk Collegiate, an individual must demonstrate a caring and nurturing attitude toward young people and must seek to provide a positive but challenging learning environment for our athletes to develop the ability to push themselves and their teammates to achieve their goals through hard work, discipline, and a positive attitude.  Coaches at Norfolk Collegiate must demonstrate knowledge in their particular sport and must be able to transmit that knowledge to athletes under their charge.

BUS DRIVERS

Norfolk Collegiate School seeks part-time bus drivers for the upcoming school year. Responsibilities include afternoon and occasional evening driving of athletic teams for practices and games. From time to time, there will also be opportunities to drive students and teachers to field trips during the school day. Drivers are expected to have an up-to-date CDL with and S or P endorsement and will be paid $15 per hour with a $40 per trip minimum.
